Find the model label
- Look for a sticker or plate: inside the door frame, on the back panel, or on the side of the unit.
- Note the brand, the model number and the serial number.
- Take a clear photo of the whole label.
Describe the part
- Which part is broken and what it does.
- Photos from two angles, with a coin or ruler for size if useful.
- Any number printed on the old part.
Decide: repair or replace
Ask for a quote for the part and for the repair. For an older appliance, compare the repair cost with the price of a new one.
Compare offers
Compare the part price, availability today, warranty on the part and whether the shop or a repairer can fit it.
Questions
What if I cannot find the model label?
Send photos of the appliance from the front and back with the brand name visible. A shop may be able to identify the model from that.
Should I buy the part myself and then book a repairer?
It can work, but ask the repairer first. Some will only warranty work when they supply the part.
